  • Repairing with CHKDSKCHKDSK is a repair utility designed to identify and fix file system-related issues. Although you can run CHKDSK on the drive by connecting it to another computer, it is not a viable solution for recovering the data and may actually cause more harm than good.
  • Updating drivers – Drivers handle communication between your hardware and operating system. Updating or reinstalling them can fix minor firmware-related issues, but you can’t update the drivers if the laptop isn’t working.
